Our Activities

  • Formation of “Thalassaemia Foundation”as a Trust with Sri Mithun Chakraborty as its Chairman. Installation of “ELISA Reader” (donated dy Sri Mithun Chakraborty)


  • Inauguration & installation of “VARIANT ANALYSER”(Bio-Rad) for the first time in the Eastern part of India.
  • Inauguration of “Thalassaemia Carrier Screening”project by using HPLC technique for the First Time in the Eastern India.


  • Inauguration of “Diagnostic Laboratory & Research Center” at IB 175, Salt Lake City, Calcutta 91. (Free Space donated by Dr. N. N. Roy Chowdhury, at “Subodh Mitra Memorial Cancer Hospital)
  • Installation of “Computer System” (donated By Dr.Amit Chakravarty), FAX machine(donated by Mr. Kishan Kr. Pugalia)

  • Celebration of “Foundation Day” by a seminar on “Prevention of Thalassaemia in West Bengal”

  • Visit of Dr. Suthat Fucharoen from Siriraj Hospital, Thailand Seminar on “Thalassaemia” at our Diagnostic Center.


  • Inauguration of “Prenatal Diagnosis” of Thalassaemia in fetus (unborn babies). Installation of the Cell Counter: EMERCK (Donation of MPLAD Fund from Mr. Tapan Sikdar, Minister of State for Communications).

  • Visited & obtained Advanced Training in “Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cell Collection & Cryo-preservation” in following centers :-

  • Receive of a “PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction : Thermal Cycler) machine” at Los Angeles (donated by Dr. Manilal Bhaumick, Eminent Physicist)


  • “Cycle expedition” from “Gandhi Statue” (calcutta) to “Gujrai” for “Thalassaemia Awareness” (4 youngs).


  • Announcement of donation of “Chetlahat Maternity Center” (19B, Chetlahat Road, Calcutta 27), hand over to “Thalassaemia Foundation” for making “Thalassaemia Hospital”.


  • Official hand over of the hospital building by Shri Subrata Mukherjee, Mayor, Calcutta Municipal Corporation.

  • Formal inauguration of “Thalassaemia Hospital” at 19B, Chetlahat Road, Kolkata 700027.

  • Donation of an “Ambulance-cum-Mobile Van”for Thalassaemia Awareness & Prevention Program by “West Bengal Council of Sports”, Govt.of West Bengal.

  • “Thalassaemia Carrier Screening” Camps attended by us:-
      • Districts : Calcutta, Howrah, Hooghly, Midnapur, 24Pgs, Nadia, Birbhum (in West Bengal)
      • Total no.of Thalassaemia Carrier Screening camps = 66
      • Total no of Awareness Camps attended by us = 156
